whole30… who’s with me?!


I have finally found something that has me inspired from head to toe! 

According to their website (click image to get started!), they tell us to, “Think of it as a short-term nutritional reset, designed to help you put an end to unhealthy cravings and habits, restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, and balance your immune system.” It’s for 30 days, which isn’t so bad, and many, many people just keep going!

Holy shit, that sounds amazing. Am I right? This is what I have been searching for. I need a “reset” because my relationship with food sucks and I am also hoping it will take care of some of my ailments (anxiety, depression, tummy issues, sleeping problems, etc). I don’t really care much about losing weight, which is good because:

This is not a diet; it’s a lifestyle change. BIG difference.

Seriously check this shit out. I will be starting when I get back from France. I think I managed to get Mama on-board, although the no dairy thing means no coffee creamer for her coffee (you can use coconut milk though!). Other friends backed out on me saying they couldn’t give up bread or dairy or alcohol, but immediately followed up with, “…but I’ll support you!”

Cough, cough, bullshit…

Trying to get Boyfriend on-board too, since it would be easier if he participated too, and if ANYONE needed a nutritional reset, it’s this guy. He seriously eats like crap every day, unless I make a meal for him. Burger King and McDonald’s are his best food friends.

And he wonders why he always feels like crap… hmmm…

I am so excited to get started that I am going to start dipping my toes in the water and get a head start! I am buying the book, It Starts With Food, as soon as I finish this post, and I am going to start weening myself off of the things I can’t have (see the list here). Obviously the Oscars are tonight so I will be drinking plenty of wine, but Monday is gonna be my bitch.



you guys! we made a pizza!


Boyfriend and I made the most delicious homemade pizza. Like holy shit.

Let me tantalize you:
• garlic & herb crust (Trader Joe’s)
• pizza sauce
• caramelized onions
• fresh mushrooms
• BBQ meatballs (my side)
• rosemary chicken (my side)
• Italian sausage (Boyfriend’s)
• fresh mozz
• lots of cheese


All of this damn Arctic-esque weather has led to days off of work, which I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of, and tomorrow is one more of those days (we’ve had 3 thus far). The district has decided that student programming is canceled but staff are to report.

The fuck?!

I plan on showing up in yoga pants, sans boob jail. Oh, and I’m leaving early. I have an “appointment” aka nap time. That’s right… Nap time: one of the most important parts of the day.

What did I have for breakfast? I had an Irish coffee and split a plate of sub-par nachos with my dearest friend “Matilda” at the most random bar ever: Bamboo Betty’s in Lexington. My time with her today was very productive, as I am finally writing my blog! It feels sooooooo good to feel inspired and motivated.

Like seriously.

What is it about Whole Foods that just makes me feel like such a good person? Every time I walk in, I just feel happy and healthy- even after bar nachos. I’ve been trying this whole gluten-free thing lately, to see if it will help with my issues. Gotta admit… I sure feel good after a gluten-free day (breakfast, lunch, & after school snack) and Boyfriend is surprisingly supportive, willing to try anything if I want to make a gluten-free dinner. I made chicken alfredo with brown rice pasta and he loved it!

But for reals.

My brain is teeming with so many ideas for what I can do with this thing:

             1.)  Library advocacy!

             2.)  Reading/book stuffs!

             3.)  CATS!

             4.)  Whatever the fuck I want!
